The Graphic Designer (Design Coordinator) conceptualizes, designs, updates, and coordinates production and installation processes for creative projects including signage (internal and external), environmental graphics, promotional collateral, operational materials, event graphics, and digital media for Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana's (GCSI's) retail enterprise, commercial services business, Foundation, corporate, DEI, and employee communications, mission and education divisions, and programs and services for employees, job seekers and families. Projects include development for both internal and external audiences in GCSI's wide range of business units. Critical audiences include, but are not limited to, donors and shoppers, employees, financial donors and prospects, B2B customers and prospects, community and business leaders, policymakers, prospective and current students, and individuals and families who have connected with - or may connect with - a GCSI program or service to help increase their economic self-sufficiency. This role reports directly to Director, Creative Services and works closely with the Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) team on multiple, simultaneous projects from start to finish under tight deadlines.
Example Duties and Activities
Conceptualizes, designs, and coordinates the production of a wide variety of creative projects while protecting and maintaining brand consistency.
Manages, prioritizes, and successfully executes multiple simultaneous projects with tight deadlines.
Works directly with the MARCOM team and key stakeholders throughout the organization on the development of project needs, timelines, and budgets. Provides feedback and reviews work for projects across the organization.
Develops creative problem-solving designs and presents recommended solutions to key stakeholders throughout the organization.
Participates in interior space planning for environmental graphics in retail, education, and corporate locations.
Travels to GCSI facilities located within the central and southern Indiana territory as needed for planning and projects.
Coordinates mailings/deliveries of print materials and manages installations of large format graphics/signs as needed.
Strives for continuous product improvement and builds own knowledge base of GCSI's diverse business units and their goals.
Designs and develops digital, interactive, and web-based media to meet customer requirements and usability standards.
Provides creative insight and ideas in marketing and corporate team environments.
Coordinates and directs photo shoots as needed with outsourced photographers/videographers.
Required Competencies
Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor's degree in visual communications, graphic design, or a related field.
Graphic Design Expertise - Has a track record of success in the ability to strategically develop, conceptualize, design, and produce effective design solutions. Knowledgeable about preparing print design files for print vendors. Stays relevant and current with design techniques as evidenced by a strong online visual portfolio. Adept at utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
Project Management (Marketing) - Oversees multiple work streams simultaneously and looks for efficiencies in the design, product, and installation processes to meet timeline and budget requirements. Effective at driving creative development of a project and/or receiving specific project direction and achieving successful outcomes. Financially evaluates cost-saving options for various strategic sourcing solutions. Demonstrates leadership skills, especially around communication/innovative solutions to problems, concerns, issues, and roadblocks.
Planning and Prioritization - Manages competing demands by effectively organizing and prioritizing projects considering operational objectives/timelines and maintaining customer service excellence. Excellent time management, planning, scheduling, and coordination skills. Is able to work in a highly structured environment and quickly adapts to changes in priorities or deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.

Preferred Competencies
Photography/Videography Ability - Knowledgeable of photography/videography setups, compositions, and photo/video editing. Basic proficiency with a digital camera and video equipment to compose and take photos/videos. Works with creative teams and clients to plan video shoots.
Social/Digital- Knowledgeable of digital/social media platforms and trends and is able to design effectively for each.
Editing and Proofreading- Evaluates content that is provided and creates visual layouts that enhance the content provided.
Web-PHP/WordPress web development/design skills a plus.
