By connecting individuals and organizations across disciplines, 4Roots is gathering an alliance of community stakeholders who believe in creating a sustainable and equitable food system.POSITION SUMMARYThe Greenhouse Manager at 4Roots Farm Campus will oversee all greenhouse operations, ensuring the successful growth and care of plants within the greenhouse environment. This role involves managing daily tasks, maintaining growing systems, and contributing to the broader farm operations as needed. The Greenhouse Manager will have hands-on experience in greenhouse management, general maintenance skills, and a passion for sustainable farming. This position will work closely with and follow the leadership of the Head Farmer.CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPTSkills & QualificationsRequired:

• Minimum of 2 years proven experience running a greenhouse.
• General handy work experience, including plumbing repairs.

Preferred:

• Experience with hydroponic growing systems.
• Degree in Plant/Soil Sciences or a related field.

Position Functions and Duties

• Oversee and manage all greenhouse operations, including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, cleaning, and restocking.
• Manage and monitor supply inventories, ensuring all necessary materials are available and properly stored.
• Implement and oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices to maintain plant health.
• Care for the aquaponics system, including feeding and monitoring the health of the fish.
• Provide guided tours of the greenhouse, sharing the farm's vision and practices with guests.
• Assist with general farm duties when greenhouse responsibilities are met.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on growing systems, including hydroponics and aquaponics.
• Conduct general handy work, including plumbing repairs, as needed.

Working ConditionsMost of the work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions. Work performed outdoors requires physical demands like lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time. You will perform repetitive tasks like planting, weeding, and harvesting. Must handle agricultural substances with safety precautions.
