The Grounds Maintenance employee helps cultivate and care for the landscaping and grounds surrounding the school campus and performs upkeep on the canopies and exteriors of buildings. This position is part of the Facilities team and helps maintain an attractive, safe, and clean school environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential duties include but are not limited to:Prune, rake, trim, and edge around landscapingMake minor repairs to irrigation systems such as heads, controls, and basic wiringWater plants and grass as neededApply fertilizer, insecticide, and weed controlWeed eatInspect and pressure wash sidewalks and hard surfacesClean gutters and downspoutsWalk assigned areas of campus, collecting and removing trashRemove tree limbs and brush as neededInstall new trees, flowers, and shrubberyKeep sidewalks clear of debrisClean outdoor furnitureTroubleshoot non-working equipment and make minor adjustments or repairsPerform basic constructionTroubleshoot minor maintenance problems on campus groundsGeneral Carpentry on campus groundsAssist in the setup of campus facilities for special eventsAssist in Athletic field setupReport to campus during periods of inclement weather to assist with duties as neededDrive buses as neededOther tasks as needed or requiredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNo supervisory responsibilitiesQualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDThree years experience in horticultural and maintenance work preferredMust have or obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), at the School's expense, to operate a school busOr a combination of equivalent experience, education, and trainingSkillsAbility to operate hand tools and equipment used in groundskeeping, including weed eater, shears, trimmer, etc.Ability to comprehend and follow simple instructionsAbility to lift 75 pounds or moreKnowledge of operating a variety of landscaping equipmentAbility to operate a motor vehicle, power tools, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipmentAbility to stand for extended periodsMust be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noiseAbility to work effectively with diverse populationsAdheres to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturityWorking Conditions and EnvironmentIntermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.Frequently talk and hear.Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.Long or odd hours, as needed.Individuals must also be able to safely operate a golf cart or similar vehicle.#J-18808-Ljbffr
