Under the direct supervision of the Grounds Supervisor, responsible for maintaining and caring for the hospital grounds eight (8) hours a day, five (5) days a week. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Operates pavement sweeper over streets, garages and parking lots.
• Operates riding and push lawnmowers and small tractor.
• Applies herbicides to vegetation as necessary.
• Prepares weeds and thins flowerbeds. Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
• Remove snow and ice from streets, sidewalks, and parking lots.
• Ensures the campus remains clean by inspecting grounds routinely and collects trash found on grounds and the garages.
• Power wash entrances as necessary.
• Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
• Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or equivalent

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

• Must have a valid Tennessee State Driver's license.

EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures as acquired through orientation.
• Knowledge of landscaping of grounds and use of herbicides as acquired through experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to read, write, perform mathematical calculations, and follows technical procedures.
• Completes mandatory on-line education annually.
