Ensure proper maintenance of assigned college grounds to reflect a positive image of the college. Will maintain an attractive, pleasant, and safe external environment at the college.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform ground maintenance of college property such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and snow removal, to keep grounds hazard-free and attractive.
2. Perform landscaping duties such as planting and proper care of new and existing plants, installing and/or repairing retaining walls, edging, etc.
3. Inspect, maintain, and properly store all tools and equipment.
4. Inspect, repair and maintain sprinkler system as needed.
5. Inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment daily.
6. Pick up litter, limbs, and debris and empty trash receptacles.
7. Assist in facility use set-ups.
8. This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergency situations, to include, but not limited to snow removal, structural failures, and natural disasters.
9. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge in the use of pesticides, fungicides, turf chemicals and fertilizers.
2. Knowledge in lawn care and landscaping.
3. Skills in operation of standard lawn care and light construction equipment and vehicles.
4. Manual dexterity and motor coordination skills to perform grounds maintenance.
5. Ability of lift in excess of 100 lbs.
6. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach and walk to complete assigned tasks.
7. Ability to drive.
8. Ability to handle extreme temperatures and harsh working conditions.
9. Ability to use a personal computer.
10. Ability to communicate verbally, written form, voice, e-mail etc.
11. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

Required Qualification
High school diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year related work experience.
Valid driver's license and insurability to drive College vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
E.P.A. certification preferred.
Physical Demands
Ability of lift in excess of 100 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach and walk to complete assigned tasks.
