Join our team and help make a difference! Overview We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Group Leaders to work with us who has a love of SPORTS. In this role you will be responsible for the overall development, management, and organization and planning of your own group during our Saturday Night Lights , sports program. In addition, the Group Leader is responsible for the supervision of all staff assigned to the group. Reports To: PROGRAM DIRECTOR, MONTEREY CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY CENTER Location: 2100 Monterey Avenue, Bronx, NY 10457 Hours: Saturday Afternoons and Evenings, 4-8 hours, NonExempt Major Duties:
- Maintain 85% group attendance.
- Attend all staff meetings and mandatory training's.
- Develop and maintain an atmosphere of consistency and fairness in which both children and staff cooperate.
- Plan and implement activities, group games each day.
- Supervise support staff assigned to your group.
- Maintain strict adherence to policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure program room and spaces are kept neat and orderly.
- Provide direction, supervision and guidance to participants at all times.
- Maintain all required records for your group.
- Engage in outreach activities to ensure attendance and participation.
- Engage in interaction with parents and guardians in a professional, fair and gentle manner.
- Discuss behavior problems and situations with supervisor as they emerge.
- Resolve conflict within your group while seeking assistance from other staff, supervisors and directors when necessary.
- Inspect all facilities, equipment, and supplies and be sure all are locked away securely at the end of each day.
- Participate in staff orientation as well as ongoing development activities.
- Sharing with the welcoming of visitors
- Supervising dismissals
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED and at least 2 years related experience in youth development programs preferred.
- Candidates who have a love of Sports or any training or coaching skills strongly encouraged to apply.
- Must have the ability to work Saturdays afternoons and evenings.
- Able to lead and participate in group activities.
