Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is looking for amazing individuals to become part-time Group Leaders within the Youth and Family Services Elementary and Middle school After School programs. This position is a part-time hourly role, requiring 15-18 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Availability from 2:00pm to 6:00pm (depends on site placement), with occasional evenings (6:00pm – 9:00pm) and weekends (9:00am - 4:00pm) required at our Beacon worksites.

Principal Duties:
  • Plan, implement and document successful educational, recreation, arts activities, youth leadership, community service with school-aged children.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children your primary focus.
  • Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant in your care, and foster positive connections between participants. Actively engage with children at all times to foster their positive development.
  • Conduct yourself as a professional and representative of the agency with school staff, parents, children, and anyone else with whom you come into contact.
  • Effectively manage youth workers and assigned groups of children. Maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy.
  • Assist in participant enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents to the Director.
  • Inspect daily all facilities (including shared spaces), equipment, and supplies; ensure all are accounted for and put away at the end of each day; provide Supervisors with a daily room check-in log.
  • Actively participate in all aspects of professional development, including scheduled supervision, weekly team meetings, pre-service training, and additional paid professional development training required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Compensation:

  • $16.00 increased based on educational and/or experience level.

Position Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of College, preferably in Education, Social Work or related field.
  • 2 years' experience working with children in a childcare, after school programs, or educational setting.
