These positions do not provide medical benefits.The City of Aurora is seeking a Guest Services Representative who can focus on customer service duties at the Aurora Reservoir Park Office during the April to September season. This involves greeting visitors in the Park Office, answering phone calls, monetary collection from outlet locations, cash handling, reconciling reports, and more. It also includes learning many of the administrative duties necessary to run the Aurora Reservoir Park Office. These include things such as front desk operations, revenue collections, point of sale, park policy and procedures, and more. This position requires a high level of problem-solving ability, self-initiative and the ability and willingness to work at times without direct supervision. Dependability and confidentiality are additional aspects of the job. Provides support and assistance to City employees, citizens and a variety of other customers. Flexibility of schedule, which may include evenings and weekends, and dependability, are key aspects of this position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Revenue reconciliation for all outlets
- Running of appropriate reports to verify all items sold
- Putting together bank deposits
- Records and processes fees involving park and facility reservations, permits; accounts for all existing working cash assigned and revenues generated during scheduled shift
- Under general supervision, the Guest Service Technician provides information to the public regarding the Aurora Reservoir facilities, activities, and programs.
- Performs customer service duties such as greeting guests and answering questions in person and over the phone; explains Aurora Reservoir programs, services
- Displays excellent customer service skills, establishes, and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, public officials, and all members of the public
- Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously, and thoroughly with the highest regard to the customer
- Uses a variety of computer software programs
- Completes all required reports and records accurately and on schedule; submits/deposits to the proper person or office.
- Serves as a cashier, operating cash register, handling financial transactions and processing receipts in person, phone or with online customers
- Educating patrons on facility use rules and regulations; ensure adherence to rules and safety procedures
- Performs cleaning and light janitorial duties
- Performs administrative tasks, account maintenance, account creation, and account collections
- Responds quickly to all emergency situations as needed
- Assist in the execution of emergency action plans as directed by Management
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled
- Open and or Close the Park Office at Aurora Reservoir
- Learning all administrative processes
- Follow established Cash Handling Policies and Procedures
- Data input of pass records
- Collecting the Lost and Found items
- May be required to adjust scheduled shifts to meet staffing and business needs.
- Must have the ability to work nights, weekend, and holidays as necessary
- Perform duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONSAn equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: - High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: - At least one year of cashiering and clerical experience including customer service background handling complaint calls.
Knowledge:- General knowledge of cash registers, personal computers and related word processing software applications
Skills:- Skill in the use of windows-based, POS, excel, and registration software programs
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are preferred.
- Conflict resolution skills
Abilities: - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, all levels of management including executive staff, citizens, and elected officials
- Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Licenses and Certifications Required: - Required with the first 6 months of hire - CPR/AED & First Aid
WORKING CONDITIONS - Moderate physical work requires the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with or without assistance. Frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds, regular walking and standing. Regular climbing, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard, cash register, and office equipment. Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information. Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
Essential Personnel: - When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:- Moderate physical work requires the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with or without assistance. Frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds, regular walking and standing. Regular climbing, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Work Environment:- Works indoors and outdoors to complete all duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:- Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel, and menu driven databases as a part of the library automated systems
- This position may require the use of Janitorial supplies (e.g. mop bucket, mop, broom, towels, chemical, etc.)
- This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
