About the Role: The Handtufter's primary responsibility is to safely run the equipment efficiently as possible to produce first quality carpet. WILL PROVIDE RELOCATION FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently operate the equipment including tuning (Threading and/or replacing needles, replace cutting blades, align cutting blade block, hook replacement, and sharpening of scissors).
  • Conduct machine set up checks.
  • Perform quality inspection during production runs, mends voids in carpets as required.
  • Check rugs and yarn to match order
  • Mark and doff all rolls produced as well as assist in changing the primary backing.
  • Clean, sweep, and/or blow down work area keeping the area around the machine clean.
  • Blow lint out of machine at least once per shift.
  • Drive forklift when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 years or more related experience in carpet tufting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office and basic internet skills
  • Read, write, and perform general math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Read and interpret documents such as simple correspondence, orders, layouts, and installation instructions
  • Write routine correspondence
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Communicate and interact with associates
  • Experience using power tools
  • Keep work area clean and orderly
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • Remain in a stationary position (ex. standing or sitting) for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body. This will include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, crouching, crawling, and stooping.
  • Thread yarn through needles and tie knots in the yarn
  • Push and pull rolls of backing and carts loaded with yarn
  • Read and write work related documents in English
  • Operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Move about inside and outside the facility
  • In-office role (no remote work)
  • Warehouse environment; exposure to noise and temperature variations
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds.
