Our Glass Department handles the cutting and packaging of glass and PVC components.Position SummaryThe Glass Cutter is responsible for the efficient operation of glass cutting machinery, pallet jacks, and forklifts, as well as the manual cutting of glass parts. This role also involves packaging, palletizing, and transporting glass products for shipping. The successful candidate will maintain production efficiency, adhere to safety protocols, and ensure the accurate assembly of orders.Key Responsibilities
  • Production Efficiency:
    • Operate glass-cutting machinery and perform hand cutting using templates.
    • Safely utilize pallet jacks and forklifts to transport materials.
    • Set up and organize fiberglass pallets and Gaylords for production.
  • Quality Control & Inventory:
    • Monitor and maintain inventory of component stock lines.
    • Ensure accurate packaging of glass parts, including assembling boxes, sealing, palletizing, and preparing them for shipping.
  • Safety & Communication:
    • Follow safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
    • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly with colleagues in other departments.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Perform other assigned tasks and duties as required.
QualificationsEducation & Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Knowledge of operating and maintaining machinery, including forklifts, glass cutters, and hand tools such as utility knives and tape machines.
  • Production Knowledge: Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost-effective manufacturing practices.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents. Proficient in writing basic reports and communicating effectively with team members.
  • Math Skills: Basic math skills (addition, subtraction).

  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to meet production schedules.

Physical Demands and Working ConditionsPhysical Requirements:

Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to high heat, humidity, and airborne particles.
  • Regular contact with fiberglass materials is required.
Work Hours:
  • 8-hour shifts with overtime as needed.
