Daycare Handyman Job DescriptionPosition: Daycare Handyman Reports to: Center Director Pay Rate: $20/hourJob Summary: We are seeking a dependable and skilled Handyman to ensure our daycare facility remains safe, clean, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance and repair tasks and be comfortable working in an environment with young children.Key Responsibilities:Facility Maintenance:Perform routine inspections and repairs of classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.Address minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry issues.Handle painting, patching, and other cosmetic repairs to maintain a welcoming environment.Ensure HVAC systems are functioning properly and report major concerns.Safety & Compliance:Regularly inspect playground equipment and facility areas to ensure they meet safety standards.Assist in emergency repairs to maintain a safe environment for children and staff.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire code regulations.General Upkeep:Assemble and move furniture or equipment as needed.Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.Perform basic landscaping tasks such as lawn care and outdoor repairs.Assist in setting up for events and rearranging spaces as required.Communication & Reporting:Report maintenance needs or potential hazards to the daycare management promptly.Keep records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.Supervise external contractors when necessary.Qualifications:Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or related role.Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.Must pass a background check and meet daycare safety requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a daycare, school, or child-focused environment.Certification in facility maintenance or a related field is a plus.Working Conditions:Flexible schedule based on daycare needs, with occasional weekend work for major repairs.Physical activities such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Compensation:$20/hour, based on experience and qualifications.Compensation: $20.00 per hour The Learning ExperienceAt The Learning Experience, we make early education joyful, engaging and fun so children are happy to learn, play and growOur curriculum focuses on the six ages and stages of early childhood development and engages children in hands-on learning activities that encourage them to explore and solve problems at their own rate of development.
