Morgan Technical Ceramics Auburn is searching for a skilled and experienced Hard Machinist V to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you'll set up and operate advanced machining equipment to produce complex, high-tolerance products that exceed customer expectations. As a technical leader, you'll also serve as a go-to resource for your colleagues, helping to solve challenges and drive continuous improvement across our operations.Why This Role Is ExcitingAs a Hard Machinist V, you're not just running machines-you're shaping the future of our products and processes. Your expertise will help us maintain our reputation for excellence, and your leadership will guide others in achieving the same high standards.Major Responsibilities/Activities
  • Precision Machining: Operate advanced machining equipment to produce parts that meet the most demanding customer specifications. Your attention to detail ensures every part is flawless.
  • First Article Inspections: Conduct thorough first article inspections and implement corrective actions to address any non-conformances.
  • CNC Programming: Utilize your programming skills to set up and operate CNC controls and equipment, ensuring precision and efficiency in every job.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical resource, providing guidance on equipment setup, operation, tooling, and inspection techniques to your fellow team members.
  • Tooling Design: Select and design the tooling necessary to achieve the highest levels of precision and efficiency.
  • Process Development: Develop and document new manufacturing processes and procedures, helping us bring innovative product designs to life.
  • Training & Coaching: Share your knowledge by training other employees on product requirements, equipment operation, and inspection techniques.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance our processes, reduce costs, and improve safety, contributing to our culture of continuous improvement.

  • Safety & Maintenance: Operate all equipment following strict safety standards, perform preventive maintenance, and keep your workspace clean and organized.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of machining experience, ideally in machining technical ceramics.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
    • Expertise in ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
    • Advanced understanding of equipment operation techniques, including speeds, feeds, and tooling.
    • Familiarity with standard measuring techniques and instruments.
    • Proficiency in using Caelus manufacturing software, as well as basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes skills.
    • Certified Operator status is required.
Essential Functions
  • Physical Demands: Be prepared to stand and move for your entire shift, with tasks including walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and handling materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Precision Work: Regularly adjust, assemble, and operate tools and equipment with the highest level of precision to produce top-quality products.
  • Effective Communication: Engage in frequent communication with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations and address any issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Constantly monitor product quality through visual and tactile inspections, ensuring every part meets our high standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Regular use of personal protective equipment, including eye protection, hearing protection, and respirators as required.
  • Data Management: Accurately enter and retrieve data from computer systems, supporting efficient production processes.
  • Task Management: Constantly evaluate and reprioritize tasks to meet changing production and customer needs.
