Job Description :
What you'll do As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will work with other engineers, technicians, and cross functional partners to validate the performance, durability, and safety of Standard Bots' robotic systems. You will be responsible for developing test plans and methods for measuring how well Standard Bots's products meet customer and internal requirements, as well as evaluating how, why, and when they fail. This role is onsite in Glen Cove, NY. Visa sponsorship is not available.Responsibilities
  • Use physics-of-failure and statistical approaches to develop and maintain comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality and reliability of industrial robots, control systems, and accessories
  • Perform product verification and validation at the system, subsystem, and component level to evaluate their performance both qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Build out Standard Bots's test capabilities, including sourcing off-the-shelf equipment, designing and building custom test rigs, and setting up new test environments to simulate customer applications
  • Conduct teardowns, troubleshooting and diagnosis of system failures
  • Work as part of a broader quality team to triage and root cause issues found during testing
  • Analyze and interpret data from validation tests, including statistical and reliability analysis of failures, and connect to business metrics such as yield and warranty rates
  • Write test reports and communicate results to broader technical team
  • Develop standard test processes and procedures
  • Communicate and collaborate with a distributed team through test reports and status updates
Who you are You are an exceptional troubleshooter and debugger, with strong attention to detail, an eye for potential defects, and an understanding of how end users think. You have experience with testing complex electromechanical systems in a domain such as aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or industrial systems. An ideal candidate is capable of not just planning and executing tests, but has a deep understanding of how, why, and when systems will fail. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in design, development, or validation of complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of test methods for product validation and reliability testing, including ALT, HALT, and reliability demonstration tests
  • Understanding of common failure modes and physics of failure for mechanical and electrical systems and components
  • Experience with statistical analysis of test data in Python, Minitab, JMP, or similar software environments
  • Experience with setting up and using sensors and data acquisition tools such as load cells, thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges
  • Experience with mechanical design, test equipment sourcing, or industrial automation
  • Exposure to verification and validation of safety-critical or mission-critical systems
