Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller is responsible for overseeing and planning financial activities for the school and ensuring all financial records are in good working order.The essential duties and/or responsibilities of the position include:Plan and execute monthly close procedures to provide a smooth and efficient operation.Work directly with the Director of Finance in overseeing and executing the school's budget, responding to updated challenges throughout the Fiscal YearAssist in creation of yearly school budget in tandem with leadership priorities, along with Director of Finance and Departmental leadershipMonitors cashflow and account balances across the chart of accountsLiaison with and support all finance functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Student Billing and Payroll.Liaison with school club support and the our Foundation.Investment and endowment management, tracking activity, working with Foundation leadership in managing fund activity.Maintain and reconcile General Ledger, liaison with auditors and reporting agenciesPrepare Journal Entries for non-routine transactions, assist with non-routine bank transfersDevelop and refine Internal Control policies, ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IRS regulationsPrepare special reports to the Board of Trustees on trends or notable issuesWork with regulatory agencies on all Grant funding, ensure spending and reporting aligns to all State and Federal requirementsAlong with Director of Finance, liaison with external auditors to assist in preparation of financial statements and 990 reportAssist other school departments in planning, funding emergency requests if possible and educating on financial protocols and requirementsContinually monitor best practices and liaison with other public and independent school finance professionalsContinually evaluate system and processes to improve efficiency and satisfactionPerform other duties as designated by School leadership to maintain and improve the financial health of the schoolSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Reports to Director of Finance, assist in supervisory responsibilities of Finance Department Carries out said supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.QUALIFICATIONS:CPA or Master's Degree in Accounting preferredAt least five years of progressive experience in AccountingDemonstrates leadership and management ability.Experience in office and financial management.Experience with Microsoft Office portfolioAbility to work independently and to make decisions.Interested in hearing more?
