A Day In The Life

Employee will be required to maintain hazardous waste storage sites and perform weekly inspections to ensure governmental compliance campus wide. Must attend and successfully pass courses pertaining to hazardous material spills and emergency response, including but not limited to: 8-hr HAZWOPER, annual RCRA, and triennial DOT, some of which may be online.

Employee will be required to, but not limited to, driving a forklift, load hazardous waste transporters, applying compliant barrel labels according to waste profiles, monitoring accumulation dates for compliance, checking satellite barrels for physical and date compliance, conducting bung inspections, maintaining spill kits based on the hazards in the area, and consolidating products prior to shipment.

Employee will be required to fill and maintain forklift LP tanks daily. Must attend and successfully pass the state required 8-hr Dispensing Propane Safely training class.

Employee will also be required to: provide training for personnel assisting in the performance of the duties, provide containers for recyclable products, move equipment and furniture, clean sidewalks and parking lots, monitor and assist in trash hauling, repair gates, fences, and signs, patch holes and cracks in various pavement, install and repair restroom accessories, and perform other facilities duties as assigned.

Employee will assist contractor with ice and snow removal as needed, which may require being trained and licensed to operate a skid loader.

Employee will be required to possess the proper license per the Department of Transportation prior to commencing work on this job.

Will be required to furnish own hand tools.

Will be required to maintain machines, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist and waist to floor.
  • Ability to climb.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 65 lbs.
