The Hazardous Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing waste management operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and implementing effective waste disposal strategies. The Hazardous Waste Manager will lead a team in maintaining clean and safe work environments. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of environmental regulations and waste management procedures, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. The primary role of the Hazardous Waste Manager is to ensure the safety and health of employees and the protection of the environment by properly managing and disposing of hazardous waste.Responsibilities
- Implement and manage hazardous waste programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Develop, coordinate, and execute strategies for waste minimization and pollution prevention
- Perform waste characterization, profiling, and disposal
- Train staff on proper waste handling and disposal procedures
- Prepare and maintain all necessary records and reports
- Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and respond to their inquiries
- Provide technical support for waste management projects
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in waste management
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field
- Proven work experience as a Hazardous Waste Manager or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of hazardous waste management regulations and procedures
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Professional certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) is preferred
- Attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment while maintaining a focus on safety protocols.
