• HCTC WORKS! is a grant funded project awarded from the Department of Labor. HCTC WORKS! partners with our Hazard Community and Technical College students, high school students and employers in our region to place students in apprenticeship programs in high demand jobs. As will all apprenticeship programs, a work-based learning component is the primary method for teaching the required competencies. The local business that employs the apprentice becomes an extension of the classroom for the student. The goal of an apprenticeship is to provide a hands-on work-based learning experience in a given field or trade.As an HCTC WORKS! apprentice, you will receive guidance in choosing a career path that interests you. We will help you with job placement (apprenticeship) with a local employer within that field. Apprenticeships are a PAID opportunity.

Job Duties:

• The role of an HCTC WORKS! Apprentice is as follows:o Exhibit an enthusiasm to learn and an interest in the trade/industryo Display an eagerness to build working knowledge of the job and duties assigned to the positiono Willingness to put in the effort to develop the skills necessary to be successful on the jobo Maintain good attendance and participation in dual credit courses and/or any required trainingo Adhere to all employer rules and guidelines
