Our clients and service partners alike enjoy the benefit of knowing they're working with a reliable and reputable company, dedicated to delivering a hands-on experience, from start to finish.The HDD Locator/Foreman is responsible for supporting the positive direction, coordination, implementation, and trajectory for the ongoing Horizontal Directional Drilling crew activities and any HDD subcontractors as applicable, in all geographic areas. This position will support HDD efforts while maintaining focus on quality control, and working with a driller to install conduit and cable underground using horizontal directional drilling equipment and locating devices. This position is located on site in Oklahoma. Must be willing to relocate if not local.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for completion of HDD projects in a safe and timely manner. Provides direction, support, feedback and guidance to successfully plan and implement project components.
  • Verify the maintenance routines of the drilling equipment/assets are appropriate and they guarantee an efficient performance of the drilling activities.
  • Be well versed in the established drilling operational procedures, processes, necessary actions, repairs, maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure reporting routines are fulfilled each day or as required.
  • Assist with set up/breakdown of equipment at job site.
  • Locate the HDD drill head/bores proficiently during drilling operations.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of HDD rig and other responsibilities as assigned by driller. Utilize various digging equipment, install handholes, flower pots and other devices
  • Ability to mix mud correctly when a situation requires employee to operate mud reclaimers.
  • Maintain good radio communication with driller while changing tooling.
  • Be prepared with all proper PPE and should consider safety as top priority on the job site.
  • Operate crew vehicles, drilling equipment, vac equipment, various equipment, and conduit trailers, backhoe / mini-excavator, core drilling equipment and other tools and equipment normally used in horizontal directional drilling activities.
  • Familiar with proper safety equipment and instruct new trainees in the proper use of the equipment and installation per the design.
  • Ensure Company's and Client's HSE and Q/A policies and standards are implemented at the HDD sites.
  • Actively participate to HSE inspections/audit on the rig site as needed or required.
  • Call for / Participate in investigations in case of incidents or accidents.
  • Apply and ensure the correct application of prescribed safety standards and regulations and JSA's
  • Verify proper housekeeping is maintained on the rig site and on the rig itself.
  • Follow OSHA, state, and local regulations and precautions when completing assigned work.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications: All positions require participation in the federally compliant FMSCA drug and alcohol testing program. This includes both pre-employment and ongoing random testing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operation and general maintenance skills.
  • Minimum 5yrs operating a directional drill (Ditch Witch preferred)
  • OSHA 10/30
  • Experience leading crew members
  • Possesses a valid US driver's license. Class A CDL with clean driving record preferred.
  • Read and interpret documents in the form of work orders, including (but not limited to) strand maps, PDF prints, blueprints, and any other CATV/fiber related documents.
  • Good understanding of basic mud fundamentals
  • Can safely operate support equipment (backhoe, track hoe, forklift and mini excavator)
  • Provide and maintain accurate paperwork.
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Must work well with others and be willing to learn from mentors and others in the shop or field.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours; overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment during extreme weather conditions at all times of the year.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, and perform other related physical activities for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and operate necessary materials to include small hand tools, power tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift and carry between 50 lbs. to 80 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must keep a safe and clean worksite.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass DOT required drug test and background check.
