Position Type: Athletics/Activities/CoachingDate Posted: 11/7/2024Location: Meridian HighClosing Date: Until filledJob Title: Head Coach of Athletics Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Activities/Athletics Director Job Summary: The Head Coach of Athletics is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the athletic program, including coaching, training, and mentoring student-athletes. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for sports, a commitment to student development, and the ability to foster a positive and competitive environment and build relationships with the community. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for all levels of the program.
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and mentor assistant coaches and support staff.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of student-athletes, providing feedback and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, procedures and trainings as governed by Idaho High School Activities Association and the West Ada School District.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Coordinate with the Activities/Athletic Director to schedule and manage practices, games, and other events.
- Oversee and manage the athletic department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, monitoring expenditures, and adhering to financial policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement effective fundraising strategies to help supplement financial support for the athletic program.
- Ensure the athletic facilities are well-maintained, safe, and meet the needs of the athletes and staff.
- Communicate expectations to all stakeholders and student athletes.
- Promote the athletic program within the school and the community to all stakeholders.
- Provide support and guidance to student-athletes in their academic success and achievements.
- Communicate and report all athletic injuries to the Athletic Trainer (HIGH SCHOOL ONLY)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years (preferred) of relevant coaching experience, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, NFHS, IHSAA, and WASD policies and regulations
- CPR and First Aid certification
