About the Position: The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Head Coach, Women's Volleyball (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.The major responsibilities of the Head Volleyball Coach include but are not limited to the oversight of all phases of a competitive women's volleyball program; ensuring the program is in accordance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, Big West Conference, and University rules, regulations and policies; recruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards, as well as University requirements. Plan and coordinate in-season and out-of-season practices, including team and individual workout, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I level. Monitor the academics of each of the Women's Volleyball student-athletes. Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed. Plan and implement match plans. Coordinate strength and conditioning program with the assigned Strength and Conditioning coach. Complete all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletics Compliance office in a timely manner. Lead and participate in fundraising activities for the Women's Volleyball program and/or Department of Athletics and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and friends of the university. Supervise and manage the volleyball program staff and are to perform computer-related tasks. Minimum of five years' experience coaching and recruiting for Volleyball. Thorough knowledge and experience in managing an athletics program budget and organizing and coordinating an intercollegiate Volleyball schedule. Strong organizational skills and ability to perform accurate, detailed work under time pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse groups. Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate staff. Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with multiple and diverse constituents and build effective working relationships.A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in coaching and recruiting competitively for Volleyball at a Division I level. Knowledge of State of California, California State University code and regulations, and California State University and NCAA policies and procedures.
