Head of Data Science - Panda Intelligence : Job Details

We are seeking a Head of Data Science to lead data science and machine learning initiatives, driving innovation in AI-powered healthcare solutions. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven strategies to enhance medical imaging, diagnostics, and clinical decision support. The Head of Data Science will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, clinical research, and regulatory affairs, to ensure AI models meet clinical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's data science strategy to drive AI innovation in medical imaging, diagnostics, and healthcare applications.
• Lead the research, development, and deployment of machine learning and deep learning models for image analysis, predictive analytics, and real-time decision support.
• Oversee the end-to-end data science pipeline, from data acquisition and preprocessing to model training, validation, and deployment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement scalable AI/ML solutions in cloud-based and edge environments.
• Ensure AI models comply with healthcare regulations (FDA, CE, HIPAA) and adhere to best practices for fairness, transparency, and bias mitigation.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing data science team, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
• Work closely with clinical experts and medical professionals to validate AI models and ensure their relevance and usability in real-world healthcare settings.
• Establish data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align AI-driven insights with business objectives and market needs.
• Represent the company in industry conferences, research collaborations, and thought leadership initiatives in AI and data science for MedTech.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI, with a strong focus on healthcare or medical imaging.
• 4+ years of leadership experience in managing data science teams and projects.
• Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and advanced statistical modeling.
• Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, big data technologies, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience working with healthcare data, including medical imaging (DICOM, PACS), electronic health records (EHR), and structured/unstructured clinical data.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FDA, MDR, HIPAA, CE Marking) and ethical AI principles in healthcare.
• Proven ability to translate complex data science methodologies into actionable business insights and clinical applications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in publishing research, contributing to AI patents, or collaborating with academic and industry partners is a plus.
