The General Manager of Events for Digiday Media is responsible for the successful execution of a diverse portfolio of premium industry events, ranging from large-scale, multi-day summits to smaller, single-day events and exclusive dinners of industry leaders. This role requires a hands-on approach, overseeing all aspects of event planning and management, from logistics, budget, and on-site setup to guest relations and VIP attendee generation.

The GM of Events is the owner of all of our events across Digiday Media's four brands: Digiday, Glossy, Modern Retail, and WorkLife. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for creating exceptional experiences and a drive for streamlined execution to offer maximum value to our attendees, sponsors, and beyond.

How you'll spend your time:

  • Developing and managing event budgets, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.
  • Managing all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection and preparation, attendee accommodation, and technical requirements (e.g. AV).
  • Negotiating and managing contracts with event venues – and building positive relationships with venue staff and stakeholders.
  • Managing a small events team and coordinating the involvement of a group of cross-company stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of services for all activations – including sponsorships.
  • Managing on-site setup and managing flow for all events to ensure everyone hits their marks and rules and policies are followed.
  • Developing and executing VIP guest attendee acquisition strategies.
  • Overseeing on-site registration and check-in processes.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement to keep our events fresh and ensure their success.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in event management, with a proven track record of successful event execution – particularly in the media or publishing industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines under budget.
  • Experience working with a team to monetize events through tickets and sponsorships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ability to travel to all of our US and EU events.
