The Head of Investment Portfolio Strategy will play an integral role within the General Account (GA) Investment Team, working closely with multiple internal stakeholders to optimize strategy for in-force, flow and new insurance products. The candidate will work with the business and relevant stakeholders to optimize asset allocation and pricing for all product lines and strategic transactions. The candidate will work extensively with Equitable's investment managers on the implementation of business investment strategy.Reporting to the Head of Product Investment Portfolio Strategy and ALM, this individual will partner with key internal stakeholders and asset managers to further enhance our investment process. This highly visible role will lead and drive key cross-functional strategic initiatives.Responsibilities
- Oversight of the development and optimization of all product pricing portfolio
- Collaboration with key stakeholders within asset manager and GA Investments team to ensure consistency across all asset classes and products
- Collaboration with internal stakeholders including Risk Management as a key partner on stress testing and credit risk oversight
- Analysis supporting new and existing products to meet overall profitability and distribution targets. Requires engagement and partnership with product areas to develop portfolio profiles
- Evaluating relative value and developing asset allocation strategies across credit and other fixed income asset classes
- Liaison with internal (Risk Management, Actuarial, Treasury, Legal) and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiativesThis role will be working in office 3-4 days per week.CompensationThe total targeted compensation range for this position is up to $500,000. - Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business, Finance and/or Economics
- 10+ years of experience in the investment management industry
- Established understanding of the Fixed Income markets and other asset sectors, such as mortgage loans and alternative investments
- Experience as a portfolio manager in insurance investment management
- Experience in an insurance chief investment office is a plus
- Experience leveraging third party relationships
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively alongside senior members of the General Account investment team and across the organization
- Team player with a proven work ethic and who excels in a rigorous and fast-paced environmentPreferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in asset allocation for multiple insurance products
- Demonstrated experience creating and leading engaging presentations for senior management/Board level meetingsCompetencies and Skills
- Portfolio Management: Strong knowledge of insurance company investment portfolios and investment preferences; ability to utilize relevant tools and techniques in managing investments. Develops innovative portfolio management strategies for new products.
- Investment Analytics: Deep understanding and working knowledge of modeling and quantitative analysis across all fixed income and alternative asset classes. Able to run models directly and also oversee and evaluate asset class portfolio managers analysis. Able to synthesize and communicate to senior leaders throughout the company.
- Capital & Accounting: Working knowledge of insurance company and public company accounting standards (Statutory Accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Understanding of US insurance capital standards. Knowledge of Bermuda capital standards a plus.
- Effective Communications: Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Ensure important messages are clearly understood.
