Head of Legal - Americas

Location: Troy, MI

Our client, a global manufacturing company with over $4.4billion in revenue is seeking a Head of Legal - America's, to join their Legal team.

The Head of Legal - AMS, will report into the Global General Counsel and will head legal operations within the US, Mexico, and Brazil, from their offices in Tory, Michigan on a hybrid basis, ensuring that all regulatory requirements, national governance requirements, and all corporate governance and compliance matters are met within each jurisdiction.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements (sales and procurement matters)
  • Standardization of contracts and processes.
  • Corporate housekeeping/governance of all AMS entities.
  • Implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Compliance Management System in AMS.
  • Legal support in M&A transactions .
  • Employment Iaw advise.
  • Build maintain network with legal firms for effective legal management in AMS.
  • Ensure high level of operational efficiency by continuous improvement of organization and department work methods and ensuring incorporation of best practices/ creating awareness.
  • Maintain good network with legal counsels of department, external lawyers, and law firms in AMS.

Experience and Education:

  • Juris Doctor degree and six+ years of international legal experience gained either in an in-house position or at a global top tier law firm.
  • Experience working within the manufacturing industry, with good knowledge of underlying processes, business requirements and regulations affecting the space.
  • Has the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, including national governance requirements, corporate governance, and compliance initiatives.
  • International experience working with teams in various countries and jurisdictions and/or a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong communication skills with cross-functional and international teams and the ability to manage and coach people in a professional and inspiring way.
  • Brings extensive negotiation experience in international and multi-disciplinary environments, coupled with proficiency in contract drafting and negotiation under common law systems.
