We are looking for a Head of Operations to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman Spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.
What is the role about? The Head of Operations is the leader of the Raman Operations team and reports to the VP of Operations. The Head of Operations is the owner of the fulfillment process and responsible for leading, managing and providing accountability to all team members working in the Fulfillment process. Most team members report directly or indirectly to the Operations Manager, but some must be managed through the organizational matrix. This position is responsible to ensure the Fulfillment Process is performing to meet business objectives through: Safety in production environment Quality of products produced On time delivery to customer commitments Conformance to budget
Which essential functions will you perform? - This position is the primary point of responsibility for daily operations management including:
- Production planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics functions through Materials Manager (direct report).
- Manufacturing and testing operations through Production Manager (direct report).
- Factory repair operations through Factory Repair Manager (direct report).
- Leader of the Manufacturing Engineering team (direct reports).
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and follows internal processes and guidelines.
- Develops and executes plans for efficient utilization of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Implements Lean manufacturing principles and business process management to achieve productivity, quality and reduced waste.
- Drives culture change, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.
- Ensures employees work in a safe manner and follow all safety and environmental procedures.
- Develops, coaches and mentors direct reports to drive employee engagement, teamwork and job satisfaction.
- Develops and implements training programs for direct reports.
- Provides strategic planning inputs to the organization.
- Plans and budgets for Operations organization.
- Ensures optimization of all repair activities for multiple product lines, with direct responsibility for productivity, cost controls and on-time delivery.
- Coordinates with Production Planning and Manufacturing to ensure proper prioritization of activities and resources.
- Primary responsibility for facilities maintenance.

What qualifications are needed? - Bachelor's degree in technical field (Engineering or Science) or Business, master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in operations management in a production environment.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in leadership and managing others.
- Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience in process management and process improvements.
- Low volume, high mix, high customization environments preferred.
- Experience with optical systems including lenses, windows, mirrors, alignments and coatings preferred.
- Experience working in highly regulated manufacturing environments monitored by regulatory/notified bodies (ISO, FAA, ATEX, CSA, IECEx, etc.) preferred.
- Safety mindset to follow and develop procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strong communication skills to interface with customers, sales support personnel, engineers, production operators and management.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organizational skills to set and manage priorities.
- Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Office, ERP systems, and Shop Floor Data systems.
- Must have a valid passport for international travel.
