Head of Retail Merchandising - Amazon : Job Details

DESCRIPTIONWe are looking for an experienced Head of Merchandising who has demonstrated the ability to move fluidly in a rapidly changing environment, as well as possess best-in-class written and verbal communication skills. You will work closely with internal and external partners to conceive and propose customer-facing strategies and concepts, and guide those projects to completion to hit KPIs. This will include creating complex frameworks, analyzing results, and structuring scalable solutions & processes across a variety of customer-facing channels and touch points. This role is inherently cross-functional, working closely with external partners as well as central Category, Marketing, Supply Chain, Design, and Technology teams just to name a few.The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, have proven data analysis skills, show strong ownership/commitment, be comfortable with ambiguity, and have proven leadership experience in managing projects and teams. He/she will be a strong project manager with deep analytical abilities and will over-index in several leadership competencies, particularly in the ability to innovate, Hire and Develop the Best, Think Big, Invent and Simplify, take Ownership, have a Bias for Action and Deliver Results.RESPONSIBILITIES

Possess a thorough understanding of the retail industry, regional and global business trends, and various customer segment needs.

Effective team leadership and people development; building a team culture that demands accountability for quality outputs and attracts top talent.

Have a passion and focus on the customer, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to help deliver site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience.

Have strong written and verbal skills, ability to clearly define & communicate the current and future needs of the business.

Be comfortable and effective at negotiating.

Bring innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better and more effective ways of accomplishing our customer-focused objectives; able to simplify and improve methods and processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

8+ years of team management experience.

Experience with vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion or inventory management.

10+ years of merchandising experience.

Experience in cross-functional leadership and managing direct teams.

Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.

Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables).

Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams.

Experience using pulling data and defining key metrics to deliver effective reports.

Experience with basic Microsoft Office programs and systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience leading and transforming highly effective organizations.

Experience with P&L responsibility and delivering strong financial results.

The base pay for this position ranges from $142,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,000/year in our highest geographic market.
