SEB New York covers the banking needs of our corporate home market clients with operations in North America, and financial institutions in the US and Canada. With staff of about 45 employees, we provide a comprehensive range of advisory, services and solutions to meet the local business requirements in Corporate Banking, Institutional Banking, FICC Markets, and Investment Banking.

Risk Oversight is part of SEB CRO function headed by the Chief Risk Officer of the bank. The CRO function is a global and independent control function, and we are present in all countries where SEB operates. Our overall purpose is to understand the risk profile of the business and to prevent SEB from taking excessive risk. These risks are primarily credit-, market-, liquidity and non-financial risks.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced candidate as the Head of Risk Oversight in New York. In the role you will report functionally to the Head of Risk Oversight International and locally to the Head of SEB US.

As Head of Risk Oversight in New York your responsibilities include the monitoring, analysis, and communication of all the relevant risks relating to the branch to the branch management. Additionally, you will also be responsible for upholding good relations with all business areas, mainly Corporate & Investment Banking and support functions, using excellent interpersonal skills combined with a good understanding of the various business activities. Within Risk Oversight we work closely across geographies and the different Risk functions in CRO to ensure alignment to all Group frameworks.

As Head of Risk Oversight NY, you will be responsible for:
  • Understand the local business profile, both by knowing the business drivers and inherent risks in the business model
  • Identify, measure, manage and monitor the risks according to set frameworks and tolerances and limits
  • Communicate all relevant risks to local stakeholders including the management team in New York as well as to the CRO function.
  • Work closely with and support the business in understanding their risks and facilitate the identification of new and emerging risks
  • Challenge and support the 1st line of defense in risk issues
  • Understand the US regulatory requirements on risk control as well as the impact of regulations and changes thereof
  • Run and participate in projects across all SEB AB geographies

Your profile qualifications:
  • University degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or any other quantitative field
  • 3+ years of working experience in Risk and/or business areas within Corporate & Investment Banking or Treasury
  • Deeper knowledge in Non-Financial risk or Liquidity risk
  • Knowledge of basic risk measurement, control, and reporting tools and processes

Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 a year
