Finding Inspiration in the Small Things: Phoenix staff take an asset-based approach to our work.Specific Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Chief Schools Officer, the Springfield Head of School must demonstrate and juggle leadership across multiple priorities, including:Instructional Leadership Ensure that the Phoenix academic team is clear about how to implement, assess, and adapt the curriculum. Lead a scholar-focused academic program that ensures scholars can demonstrate competence. Work with leadership teams to design and deliver engaging professional development. Coordinate with the Network Collaborative Practices Team to align academic work. Supervise Special Education, English Language Development, Advisory, and Academic programs. Communicate instructional goals and reinforce classroom standards. Foster a positive school culture. Lead community-wide rituals to share information and celebrate achievements. Oversee the development of school-wide discipline practices. Ensure consistent administration of policies and compliance. Support creating a joyful culture through celebrations and positive recognition. Develop staff capacity to build positive relationships with scholars. Ensure coordinated student support services across teams. Remain responsive to staff professional needs. Collect ongoing feedback from staff to identify needs.Student Recruitment, Retention, and Community Engagement Oversee yearlong student recruiting practices. Oversee engagement and attendance goals. Engage staff in retention activities. Build and maintain community partnerships. Ensure Phoenix is a visible and trusted community institution.Operational Leadership Manage the school's budget and monitor enrollment. Ensure the building is clean and conducive to learning. Ensure compliance with DESE regulations. Ensure technology platforms are updated. Coordinate hiring practices with the network talent team.Supervision and Development of Leaders Supervise and evaluate members of the School Leadership Team. Manage Leadership Team meetings for coordinated action plans. Support leaders in supervising and evaluating staff. Work with the Chief Schools Officer to develop the Staff Institute and Professional Development Plan.QualificationsThe Head of School will have an infectious enthusiasm for and tireless commitment to supporting Phoenix scholars and staff.
