RESPONSIBILITIES
The season itself begins during the month of October and ends during the second week of February. However, responsibilities of the coaching staff are not limited to the swim season, as events, season planning, and other factors are involved in the development of a successful program.
The Head Coach is responsible for the development and leadership of the high school swimming program. The head coach is responsible for the training, execution, and growth of the swim team in and out of the pool. The Head Coach is also responsible for monitoring the academic progress of their student-athletes, community service and engagement, planning of team travel, management of home meets, social media, and overall program presentation.
It is imperative that the successful candidate demonstrates a proven aptitude for coaching illustrated by a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to produce results.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree, with emphasis in Education preferred.
* High School coaching experience with prior head coaching experience preferred.
* Candidate must be familiar with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning swimming and swimming competition.
* Must be CPR/AED and Water Safety/Lifeguard certified
* Ability to foster positive human relationships and to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
* Ability to motivate, teach, and recruit qualified student athletes.
* The varsity position requires deep knowledge of the sport
* The varsity coach must exhibit high standards of professional ethics and conduct.
