The Program Manager for the Behavioral Surveillance Unit manages the West Virginia Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is a major statewide population health surveillance program which surveys random West Virginia adult residence about health and health practices including general health, healthcare utilization, risk factors, preventative practices and chronic diseases. This position manages several interviewers (one HHR specialist, four HHR associates and 13 temporary HHR associates). The position is responsible for collecting, editing, analyzing and disseminating data on health risks and lifestyle choices of West Virginia's adult residence. This involves ongoing evaluation of data collection quality and interviewers' performance, hiring and training of new interviewers, quarterly training of existing interviewers and supervision of interviewers. The Program Manager is responsible for providing annual survey design input to the CDC, annual grant applications, reporting of program progress, monthly editing of data, submissions to CDC's upload/download site, coordinating annual meetings with stakeholders regarding data collection priorities, representing West Virginia in monthly CDC meetings and annual conferences and trainings, working with the EpidemiologyDivision to ensure statistical analysis, report dissemination and evaluation of the BRFSS program.

Minimum Qualifications
Training:Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of assignment.
Substitution:One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the Master's degree.
Experience:Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a program administration capacity.
Substitution:Post-graduate training in the area of assignment may substitute through an established formula for the non-supervisory experience.
