Job Description :

The Barnes Center at The Arch is Syracuse University's integrated health and wellness center which incorporates health promotion, counseling, health, and recreation. The Health Promotion Specialist is an 11 month full-time position that serves as a key team member of the Health Promotion team by developing, supporting, and implementing health and wellness initiatives.

The Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for sexual health promotion programs and services including coordination for all aspects of campus safer sex supply distribution, inventory, ensuring that custom orders are fulfilled, and serving as a liaison with divisional communications and marketing. Additionally, this role provides training to student peer leaders and creates content for peer-led sexual health education programs.

This position coordinates online Community Wellness and Continuing Community Wellness Requirements for all undergraduate students, serving as a point of contact for campus and academic units to support student completion. The Health Promotion Specialist works with unit leadership to provide additional support for Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention and Mental Wellness initiatives. This position supervises a part-time graduate student employee.

Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree in health education/promotion, social work, psychology, sociology, public administration/policy, or a related field.

* A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the field of health promotion/public health.

* Experience creating and facilitating health-related educational workshops and trainings.

* Knowledge of sexual health promotion including safer sex practices and STI prevention.

* Understanding of best practices for sexual violence prevention.

* Experience working with online Learning Management Systems (preferred).

Job Specific Qualifications

* Experience creating collaborative relationships.

* Demonstrated understanding of principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility and application of these principles within the context of health promotion and social justice.

* Understanding of the development, implementation, evaluation, and prioritization of primary prevention programs in an institution of higher education.

* Ability to provide education through the lens of trauma-informed practices.

* Excellent presentation/oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

* Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, database management.

Responsibilities

* Coordinate Sexual Health Promotion programs including content creation and delivery; coordinate services including safer sex supply distribution and orders.

* Coordinate implementation of Community Wellness Requirements and Continuing Community Wellness Requirements, including communication with campus units and academic partners.

* Support Sexual and Relationship Violence and Mental Wellness initiatives including program delivery and event planning.

* Provide direct supervision and guidance to graduate student employee.

* Serve on Barnes and Student Experience committees.
