What You Will Be Doing

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Specialist to enforce and maintain safety procedures (lockout/tag out, fall protection, machine guarding, PIT etc.) on-site safety inspections, training, and risk assessments. Will work second shift Monday-Saturday 3pm-11pm. Responsibilities include monitoring operations and processes to identify hazards and safety compliance. Experience with risk assessments or job hazard assessments preferred. We require a minimum of an Associate Degree in a related field and 2 years experience in Health & Safety in a Manufacturing Environment, good written and verbal communication skills, and a strong work ethic. In addition, the Health & Safety Specialist will need to be well-versed in OSHA and Environmental regulations. The right candidate will also need to be diligent and analytical with a keen eye for detail and sensitivity for potential risks.

Essential Job Functions

  • Organize and conduct monthly safety trainings.
  • Provides guidance and ensures the compliance of safe activities or operations.
  • Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions. Conducts accident
  • investigations in collaboration with H&S Manager.
  • Advises and collaborates with managers to monitor compliance and safety issues to minimize
  • risks.
  • Performs ongoing safety training and new employee safety orientation in collaboration with
  • H&S Manager and Human Resources.
  • Conducts daily risk assessments
  • Work with third party staffing agency to reinforce safety initiatives throughout the
  • organization.
  • Prepares accident reports in collaboration with H&S Manager, determining root cause and
  • recommending preventive actions.
  • Oversee workplace repairs, installations and any other work performed by maintenance
  • department that could harm employees safety.
  • Broad knowledge of LOTO, Machine Guarding, Cranes, PIT, and other applicable safety
  • principles in the construction and manufacturing settings.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification trained.
  • Able to perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Health & Safety Specialist in a manufacturing environment. (Preferably in the Precast Industry)
  • Knowledge of OSHA legislation and procedures.
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • Experience preparing safety analysis reports.
  • Experience writing and implementing policies and procedures for health and safety in
  • manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of workers compensation procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player and good listener
  • Good time management skills
  • Great interpersonal and public speaking communications skills (English/Spanish).
  • Must be able to work required schedule Monday-Saturday 3pm-11pm (Second Shift)
  • 30 hours OSHA Certification for the General Industry
  • Trainable, flexible and adaptable to quick changes.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
