Overview:
Working under the overall direction of the Director of Nursing, the Health Support Professional will assist in providing medical and physical care to individuals within the residential program. To support and promote the mission, vision and values of Heritage Christian Services, Inc.
Pay rate for this position: $19.55 / hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
Responsibilities:
To provide assistance with the primary health, personal care and physical care needed by residents and to follow through with Individuals Nursing Care Plans as written. This includes lifting and transferring individuals that use wheelchairs and providing assistance as needed.Pass Medication Administration Course and to administer medications to residents in accordance with the Medication Policy of Heritage Christian Services.With education from the Director of Health Management and Research, will have extensive experience with g-tubes, j-tubes, nebulizers, adaptive equipment, and suctioning machines. Will demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and comfort with medical situations.To carry out individuals Res. Hab. Plan Services and Individualized Service Plan according to staff training procedures, and to be responsible for all prescribed record keeping routines and needed documentation.To provide a consistent, aggressive program based on Individualization, Integration, Independence and Productivity (3IPs) for each individual.To perform housekeeping tasks as needed. These may include meal preparation, house cleaning, laundry, shopping and other housekeeping tasks necessary to ensure the smooth running of the home.To attend all scheduled training required by Heritage Christian Services. To participate in in-service sessions and other staff training sessions, implementing new procedures and employing SCIP techniques as necessary.To be familiar with fire and emergency procedures and to assist with fire drills and related documentation.Assure the safe transportation of residents to and from recreation activities and other necessary appointments using home or agency vehicle. To assist in proper up-keep of the home/agency vehicle.Assist the individuals with building meaningful relationships/friendships within their community.Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School diploma or high school equivalency; college experience preferred
- Valid drivers license that is in compliance with Heritage Christian Services motor vehicle record standards, and reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work a rotation of shifts and overnight hours is required
- Experience with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred
- Ability and temperament to work effectively with people with mental and physical disabilities is required
- Physical ability to lift and assist people with any needed personal care; ability to follow through with SCIP-R physical intervention training procedures as needed
