Total Compensation Estimator Tool*This is an open fulltime Career Service (CS) Health Support Technician position at the Department of Health in Lee County.*The incumbent of this position provides administrative support to DOH-Lee Women, Infants and Children Program. This employee is at risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens. This position may serve clients that speak only Spanish, Creole, or other languages. It may require performance of interpreter duties, if bi-lingual, or implementation of the Department's Limited English Proficiency Plan. Travel to all WIC sites may be involved in the performance of duties.
HEALTH SUPPORT:Collects and records medical data (height/length, weight and hemoglobin levels) of WIC clients in accordance with DHM 150-24. Transcribes all medical data to the FL-WiSE system. Completes the Lab/Anthro screen with proper measurement conversions for women, infants, and children. Reviews client's immunization records and documents information in the Immunization/Blood work screen of the FL-WiSE system in accordance with DHM 150-24 and manuals. Calibrates anthropometric equipment per DHM 150-24 manual, when needed. Properly maintains bio-hazardous materials according to FDOH and CHD requirements. Follows FDOH and Lee CHD policies regarding prevention of blood borne pathogen transmission. Cleans electric breast pumps returned to the site per department policy.
CLERICAL DUTIES:Operates the FL-WiSE computer terminals/scanners/signature pads/card readers/pin pads: interviews participants for demographics, WIC income eligibility, and immunizations; issues benefits, special formula and EBT cards. Instructs participants on redemption procedures, rights and obligations, program procedures, vendor/participant concerns. Provides interactive newsletter contact and voter registration compliance. Responsible for security, inventory, storage and accurate completion of special formula, EBT card issuance log, and supply orders. Participates in end of the month inventory. Completes precertification screen for anyone walking in and requesting a WIC appointment. Adheres to all WIC regulations, policies, and procedures set forth in DOH 150-24, and other guides and manuals designated for the position.
CLIENT SERVICES:Answers telephone to schedule appointments in the FL-Wise System, provide information, or forward calls. Provides information to the public regarding the WIC Program, classes and/or other program events. Provides information on community assistance agencies. Completes weekly call backs as directed.
BREASTFEEDING:Protects, promotes, and supports breastfeeding. Refers client to appropriate site for breastfeeding information, concerns and/or breast pump loan. Works Breastfeeding Report as directed by supervisor.
ADMINISTRATION:Participates in ongoing nutrition education and outreach activities with local agency. Performs other duties as assigned.

- This position is authorized to transport confidential information outside of established DOH - Lee facilities and must comply with parameters defined in DOHP 50-10.
