Health & Wellness Instructor - YMCA : Job Details

DescriptionPosition Summary: Provide quality instruction of aerobic and fitness classes in accordance with YMCA standards and guidelines. Encourage participants using energy and enthusiasm. Reports To: Executive Director Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned

• Provide enjoyable, high quality class instruction.
• Appropriately demonstrate and instruct proper exercise in accordance with program standards.
• Responsible for the health and safety of all individuals in the fitness area, i.e. caution regarding unsafe practices and conditions and perform rescue/ first aid when necessary. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports.
• Set up and break down equipment as necessary.
• Find coverage for self in the event of an absence and then notify the Executive Director of the change.
• Responsible for attending staff meetings/events.
• Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA.
• Provide encouragement during class instruction while being enthusiastic and positive representative of the YMCA.
• Be a member service ambassador, remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules; being prepared to provide personalized direction to other YMCA services.
• Continually enhance professional development through additional certification trainings, work shops, educational courses and/or appropriate reading material.
• Communicate with members, make them feel welcome and address them by name.
• Instruct group classes in accordance with national guidelines.

• High School (GED) preferred
• 1-3 years of Pickleball teaching experience

Certifications / Training: (not all are required to apply)

• CPR (In-house)/ AED
• First Aid (Outreach)
• Certified to teach Pickleball
• Principles of Health and Wellness (Within 3 months of hire)
• Group Exercise Instructor Certification (Within 6 months of hire)
• Foundations of YMCA Strength & Conditioning
• Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise
• YMCA Cardio and Step Aerobics Instructor
