GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The main function of the healthcare recruitment specialist is to increase the number of qualified applicants into GCC's healthcare programs. The healthcare programs include Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Respiratory Care (RCP), and Health Studies. This individual will visit regional health care facilities, BOCES, and high schools in the GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming counties), Western NY region, and NY city to recruit students for the healthcare programs. In addition, this individual will orient students about the necessary pre-requisites to be accepted into the healthcare programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Visit WNY area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, LPN Programs, Depts. of Labor, community-based organizations, and other appropriate employers/agencies to recruit on behalf of GCC's healthcare programs.
Connect with area school counselors, science teachers, and career center staff to offer and provide group presentations and/or individual high school visits.
In partnership with Accelerated College Enrollment (ACE), connect with area Health Academies, BOCES programs, and home-schooled students to recruit from these populations.
Outreach to NYC high schools and provide presentations about GCC's healthcare programs at the SUNY Global Center.
Partner with healthcare program directors and Admissions staff.
Visit pathway schools to represent and recruit students to GCC via established pathway programs. (e.g. Brockport, UB and Daemen)
Coordinate and assist with on-campus group healthcare admissions events and host exploratory healthcare information sessions.
Provide personalized outreach and follow-up to healthcare recruits and applicants.
In collaboration with appropriate Student Success Coach, provide information to current GCC Health Studies students about restricted health care program deadlines, information sessions, etc...
In partnership with program directors, Admissions, and Marcom, review college website for accurate information and create healthcare recruitment materials.
Respond to inquiries regarding healthcare programs received by admissions (e.g. Admissions email, Request more information form-RMI)
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education
Associate's degree required. Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience
3 years work experience required for applicants holding an Associate's degree. Previous experience working with students in a customer facing role preferred. Preference will be given for specific experience in healthcare recruitment or advisement, college admissions, transfer, or financial aid.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must possess good interpersonal skills and exhibit a special interest in recruiting and working with healthcare students of all ages and backgrounds, school counselors, community agencies, and employers. Applicants must have the ability to create an effective healthcare recruitment plan, including in-person and virtual events. Must be detail oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills. Experience in student/data management systems (e.g. Banner) is preferrable. Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity. Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Admissions/Recruitment and works in collaboration with advisors, success coaches, Admissions, and health care program directors.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full time, year-round position at 35 hours per week and is compensated at a rate of $42,591.23. The Healthcare recruitment specialist will need flex hours to provide some evening appointments. The position requires travel, mostly in WNY. Valid New York State driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation required. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
