Job Description This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for thermal processing of a wide range of aerospace hardware; assisting with specification, procurement and installation of equipment; operation and maintenance of vacuum furnaces, sub-systems and ancillary equipment; assisting with process documentation and controls; performance of Pyrometric testing and certification of vacuum furnace equipment. In this hands-on position, you'll work with engineers in the manufacturing area to build our launch vehicles and spacecraft. We seek people who are passionate about space and possess a strong desire to continuously learn and improve existing skills and techniques, as well as the development of new skills and techniques. Responsibilities: Perform thermal processing operations to obtain high quality results of brazing, hardness and mechanical properties of aerospace components Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to design for thermal processing including heat treatment, brazing, and surface processing Operate and 'own' vacuum furnaces with high vacuum and positive pressure quench capability Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing, and assist in the development of process control documentation and quality assurance measures Assist with the development of new processes to solve challenging problems, including joining, coatings and heat treatment Assist with training of operators in all aspects of thermal processing and equipment usage and maintenance Qualifications: Minimum of 3+ years of aerospace thermal processing experience Experience thermally processing aerospace materials such as stainless steel, copper, nickel and cobalt alloys, and titanium alloys Familiar with performing furnace preventative maintenance Strong written and personal computer skills Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: 5+ of aerospace vacuum thermal processing experience Experience performing post process testing such as hardness, alpha case, and mechanical testing Experience working with: Materials engineers to design, test, and document heat treatment and braze processes Design engineers to specify braze joints designs, braze alloy selection (Ni and precious metal base), and process development Thermal processing binder applied coatings experience Ability to operate manual machine tools (lathe, mill) Experience with operating Cranes Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $29.03-$40.65 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
