Position: HVAC/R Field Technician
Full-Time Position
Reports to General Manager of Operational Support
Requisite Experience:
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair. In-depth knowledge of Trane, Lennox, Carrier, and York HVAC systems.
Responsibilities:
- Performs high-quality preventative maintenance service, emergency and cosmetic repair on HVAC units (up to 15 tons) and refrigeration equipment and their associated components
- Conducts regularly scheduled inspections of all assigned locations and documents the condition of equipment
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions and employs rapid, cost-efficient resolution
- Investigates all tubing, connections, valves, pumps, seals/gaskets, and bushings. Proactively replaces as necessary
- Inspects, repairs and reassembles components such as condensers, compressors, evaporators, pumps, fans, and fan motors
- Examines and interprets wiring diagrams to ensure code and ordinance compliance
- Provides accurate and timely reporting of maintenance logs and pertinent administrative documentation
- Maintains current service and warranty repair records. Aligns work to prevent unwarranted repair expenses or violation of warranties
- Provides proactive recommendations for repair and/or replacement of HVAC and refrigeration units and components
- Schedules and assists, where necessary, in the installation of new equipment
- Monitors, inspects, and documents all HVAC and refrigeration-related work performed by outside contractors within assigned locations
- Continually familiarizes oneself with local and state requirements and restrictions, ensuring all work is compliant
- Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned or required
- Manages all work in a manner that does not impose on operations and their ability to service customers
- Ensures all work is performed with acute attention to detail and displays pride in the quality of work performed
- Maintains safe working conditions for oneself and those in proximity
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of direct experience in commercial HVAC service maintenance, repair, and installation (including ductwork repairs and installations). 5+ years of work experience with gas and electric heating systems. Experience with Trane, Lennox, Carrier, and York commercial units required.
- 5+ years of experience maintaining, repairing, and installing commercial ice machines, beverage machines, and refrigeration units
- EPA Universal Certification (608): State and local certifications and license
- High aptitude in diagnostic principles and industry-leading preventative maintenance best practices
- In-depth knowledge of electrical work as it relates to proper HVAC/R functionality, inclusive of exhaust and air makeup systems and the skill to balance
- Extremely detail-oriented and work displays pride in quality
- Adapts well to fluctuations between autonomy and teamwork
- Superior problem-solving and documentation skills
- Expert knowledge and experience with tooling common to the industry, along with computerized electronics
- Able to accommodate irregular hours or periodic overtime. Ability to tolerate exposure to adverse weather conditions. Required to be on call for emergency situations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Capable of going up/down a ladder, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel regionally up to 50%, including occasional overnight travel
Compensation:
- Starting Wage: $40 per hour
- Performance-based Bonus: Up to $10,000 per year
- Service Incentive Bonus: Up to $5,000 per year ($1,000 per year up through five years)
- Vehicle Allowance: $1,000 per month (payable unless company vehicle is provided)
- Cell Phone Allowance: $100 per month
- Tool Allowance: $5,000 per year for the purchase and replenishment of job-specific tools
