Mechanical Operations Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our mechanical construction department. The ideal candidate will hold NC trade license, H2, H1 and P1 for plumbing and possess extensive knowledge in commercial and industrial HVAC systems, pipe fitting, welding, airside ductwork, and plumbing.
This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a team of pre-construction and project managers to ensure the department meets its financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Department Management:
• Oversee the mechanical construction department, including HVAC systems, pipe fitting, welding, airside ductwork, and commercial plumbing.
• Manage and support a team of estimators and project managers, ensuring they meet project deadlines and budgets.
• Develop and implement department policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
2. Project Oversight:
• Oversee all phases of project execution, from estimation to completion, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and client specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers to resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
• Ensure proper allocation of resources and personnel to meet project demands.
3. Financial Management:
• Manage the department's profit and loss (P&L), ensuring financial targets are met.
• Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to Executive VP and President.
• Identify and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality.
4. Client Relations:
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring satisfaction with services provided.
• Assist in business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and participating in client meetings.
5. Technical Expertise:
• Apply extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, pipe fitting, welding, ductwork to include oversight of sheet metal shop, and plumbing to guide and support the team.
• Ensure that all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to maintain the department's competitive edge.
Qualifications:
• Hold a valid trade license in commercial and industrial HVAC systems for NC to include H2, H1, and P1, trade license in SC is preferred.
•Proven experience in a mechanical operations management role or similar position.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and financial management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using project management software and other relevant tools.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Business management or a related field is preferred.
• Additional certifications in project management or mechanical systems are a plus.
