Overall compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and skillset. Rogers Group Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to assist our team that is developing a new underground mine for our location in Shepherdsville, KY. The mine development team is a project-based team tasked with creating essential infrastructure, including access declines, ventilation systems, and ground support, to ensure safe and efficient limestone extraction.The mechanic will perform repair work on a wide variety of equipment including but not limited to: offroad articulating haul trucks, front end loaders, manlifts, offroad forklifts, and dozers. Types of repairs will include repairs to the following components: diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic pumps, exhaust aftertreatment systems, mobile equipment HAVAC systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems and computer diagnostics. Successful applicant will also perform all necessary preventative maintenance on the above-mentioned equipment.** This project is anticipated to span a duration of 3 years. Please advise that onboarding and training may be conducted at other sites to include Crestwood, KY or Louisville, KY until the team officially launches at Bullitt County Stone in the spring of 2025. **The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence, be a self-starter and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshooting equipment problems and diagnosing failure
- Performing diagnostic functions, checking pressures, checking voltage, locating source of noises and/or vibrations
- Disassembling machines, ordering parts, making repairs, assembling machines, checking machine operation to make sure repairs are complete and confirming problem is fixed and is work ready
- Cleaning parts, scraping gaskets, prepping for assembly
- Keeping and maintaining complete maintenance records on all equipment on the jobsite
- Maintaining safety and cleanliness of the work environment
- Traveling to jobsites and vendor training sessions as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- Preferred five years of experience working on heavy equipment.
- Excellent written/oral communication and basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient with a computer, including the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use using manufacturer provided programs.
- Must have a good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions, electrical and hydraulic systems and how they are integrated
- Be able to weld and fabricate, as needed.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment.
- Operate a company vehicle on public highways and job sites.
- Capable of working with limited supervision and scheduling own work.
- Weekend work/overtime may be required.
- Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist, and lift 70lbs.
- Ability to climb and perform work on heights of 20 feet.
- Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
- Must place a high priority on attendance
