As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at St. Louis Composting, you are the driving force behind the machinery that creates our rich compost, mulch, and topsoil! What You'll Do:
- Maintain and Repair: Travel to various locations to keep machines operational - you'll touch them all - from mixers to sorters and the stackers and grinders.
- Diagnose and Fix Issues: Swiftly respond to machine breakdowns, diagnose problems, and execute repairs promptly to ensure continuous production.
- Inspect and Replace Parts: Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons, and gears.
- Overhaul Systems: Overhaul and test major components including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Disassemble and Reassemble: Efficiently disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components.
- Manage Parts: Order parts, provide status updates, and document corrective actions efficiently.
- Ensure Safety: Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety and professionalism.
- Adapt and Assist: Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid US driver's license and have personal tools (specialty tools provided).
- Physical Capability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in air brakes and suspension systems; Mechanical experience with a variety of heavy equipment.
