Full Time Monday-Friday, no weekends or nights.

The Heavy Equipment Operator uses various heavy machinery to load, unload, and transport scrap metal materials within the yard. Equipment includes forklifts, front-end loaders, material handlers, and excavators. Promote a safe, secure and healthy work environment while keeping equipment clean and well maintained.

Operates equipment accordance with manufacturer's operating manualPerforms daily maintenance and inspection on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling and cleaningInforms maintenance of condition of equipment through completion of daily inspection reports.Identifies and processes various grades and types of scrap metal.Reports load inspections, including deductions for contaminants, to Load Inspector and Scale Operator, to correctly process customer's metals.Assists in directing traffic throughout the facility to ensure loads are unloaded in the proper location.Completes all required daily paperwork.Follows all established safety rules and regulations.Accounts for productivity by meeting prescribed production goals.Performs equipment and general site cleanupPower washes equipment as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities:Work independently as well as within a team environment.Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.Maneuver in and around equipment to inspect, operate, and maintain company property.Previous experience using a material handler and/or excavator a plus.
