Salary : $54,419.76 - $73,031.57 AnnuallyLocation : Shelton, WAJob Type: Full-timeJob Number: 2024-017Department: Public WorksOpening Date: 12/09/2024Closing Date: 2/28/2025 11:59 PM Pacific Description POSITION PURPOSE: The person in this position operates light and heavy equipment and performs physical labor in completing maintenance, repair, and construction work on public works facilities and projects. This position is within a collective bargaining unit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in all aspects of maintaining, repairing and constructing the roadway system, including but not limited to road surface and shoulder maintenance and construction, drainage maintenance and construction, mowing, and vegetation control.Assist in all aspects of maintaining, repairing, and constructing the storm drainage system. Assist in all aspects of maintaining, repairing, and constructing the water system.Assist in all aspects of maintaining, repairing, and constructing the sanitary sewer collection system and treatment plant.Assist with the maintenance, repair and construction on City facilities and parks.Respond to City emergencies.Perform other duties as assigned; work overtime as required to complete assigned tasks.The duties outlined above are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all responsibilities performed by employees in this classification but rather as illustrative examples of the types of work that may be assigned. Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operations is required along with experience in public works operations.COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent communication skills to take direction, work successfully with co-workers and respond appropriately to customer questions and/or complaints.WORK SCHEDULE: The person in this position will be required to work a 40-hour per week schedule with a minimum of two consecutive days off. The work schedule may require weekend work.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to complete mathematical calculations required to successfully accomplish assigned job tasks.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to work within established guidelines including all applicable safety requirements.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Applicant must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License. Applicants must currently have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher, with air brake and tanker endorsement, and a first-aid card and certified flagger's card.
