A Manhattan-based hedge fund is seeking an Investment Data Analytics and Reporting Analyst.
It's a Data Analyst/Reporting role that will work with the firm's existing database and current/historical fund information (mostly in Excel) to generate reports for the firm's Investor Relations Team (largely for investor consumption) and for the Investment Team (for their internal reports – e.g., exposure, etc.). CANDIDATES MUST HAVE 5+ YEARS OF HEDGE FUND OR CREDIT FUND EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities:
- Create and generate monthly and quarterly financial data reports for private equity and credit funds
- Will work with a new SQL-based database and a legacy Excel-based database to generate investment reports as well as responding to ad-hoc requests for investment information
- Understand all aspects of the firms' complex investments (bank loans) to create reports that cover: performance attribution, sector concentration, investment positions, IRR analysis
- Respond to Investor Relations requests for risk exposure, performance attribution, and concentration risk
- Will work on performance analysis and reports, fund valuation, waterfall calculations, and fund fees
- Will work with technology to develop KPI dashboards that provide timely analysis of fund performance
- Work with technology to improve (automate) legacy Excel reporting processes to respond to investors' requests for data and performance details
Requirements:
- Must have 5+ years working as a fund performance or portfolio reporting analyst with a firm that has complex and illiquid private equity and credit investments
- Must have domain knowledge: deep understanding of how a complex credit investment fund works
- Must have proven experience working with both SQL and Excel-based financial information databases
- Must have data analysis technical skills: Excel, VBA, SQL, Python
- Must have advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting software
- Must have experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools, Tableau. Looker
- Prefer a master's degree in a quantitative field, statistics, or finance degree. Fund Accounting academic work is preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates who have strong statistical and data skills for insightful analysis
- The role requires superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to deliver complex information in written and oral presentation forms.
