Position Summary:

The IT Help Desk Technician I with a focus on Onboarding provides daily support to computer users throughout the organization. Primary responsibility is processing onboarding new employees/contractor and transfer requests, telephone support to company Help Desk hotline, responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution.

**This is a hybrid in-office position. Candidates should be located in or around Ellicott City, MD**

Responsibilities:

  • Process onboarding and transfer tickets.
  • Solicit approvals for onboarding and access requests.
  • Image and deploy machines.
  • Manage inventoried assets in office.
  • Triage issues and solve or escalate them as needed to other team members.
  • Ask questions to determine nature of problem.
  • Walk customer through problem-solving process.
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software.
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
  • Install computer peripherals for users.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Support company mobile phones and smart phones.
  • On-call rotation for weekend support; currently once every 2 ½ - 3 months.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in Microsoft products.
  • Good rapport with team members and with other department's staff.
  • Team player with the ultimate goal of a satisfied user.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Associate's degree in the area of Information Technology or relevant experience.
  • Problem solving skills with a strong drive to learn.
  • Minimum of 2 years of IT support experience in a help desk environment.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and motivation to advance in the profession.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Security minded and process-oriented approach.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Customer-oriented and good natured.
