WORK OBJECTIVE:The job involves all manner of work, both independent of and assisting mechanics, in the preparation and completion of operations in any type of work done in the department. Maintain Buildings, grounds, and comfort stations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Checking the cleanliness and serviceability of equipment and reporting of defective conditions. • Visually and manually inspecting parts or appurtenances; replacing non-serviceable parts; exercising judgment relative to the discovery and reporting of unsafe conditions and the protection of all company property during the job performance. • There may be other duties and tasks assigned that are not stated in the above duties/responsibilities which will become part of this or any job as directed by Supervision.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:Must possess and use common garage tools necessary for the performance of assigned duties under the direction of the Garage Supervisor or his deputies. Must possess all qualifications required to work in subordinate classifications. Must perform any or all work assigned as duties with a speed and accuracy satisfactory to supervisory authorities. Must develop knowledge of company policies pertaining to the work involved. Must be able to wear and utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must explain and demonstrate to others all job details, methods and procedures when directed to do so by the Supervisor or his deputies. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing (steps), twisting and/or rotating. May involve the lifting (30-60 pounds), carrying (10-50 pounds), pushing and/or pulling (5-15 pounds). Job involves standing up to one hour at a time for two hours per day, sitting up to one hour at a time for two hours per day and walking up to three hours at a time for seven hours per day.ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:80% of time is spent inside and 20% of time is spent outside. Work exposes employees to fumes and dust, as well as noise (weed-whacker or snow blower), hazards (slip and fall) and motorized vehicles (lawn tractor or floor cleaner, i.e.).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
