CLASSIFIED POSITIONFOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEARPART-TIME POSITIONS FOR THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM AT HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL(2 positions available)Typical Hours of Work: 2:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.Applications will be accepted through July 24, 2024 or until filled.BASIC FUNCTION: Assist the Site Coordinator in providing homework assistance and enrichment activities to individual or small groups; monitor and report student progress. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Instructional Monitor incumbents assist the Site Coordinator by performing a variety of support functions in the Learning Center After School Program. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:Provide homework assistance to individual or small groups of students, reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed.Participate as member of the Learning Center Program.Assist with preparing and organizing After School activities as needed by the Site Coordinator.Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures.Perform bus monitoring duties as needed.Perform routine clerical duties such as preparation of After School materials; operate copy machines; maintain After School records; maintain attendance records; input of information into the APlus computer reporting program.Provide support to the Site Coordinator by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.Assist in overseeing students while at after school club.Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.Confer, as needed, with Site Coordinator concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.Being regular in attendance is a requirement and essential function of this position.Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.Direct group activities of students as assigned; assist in monitoring activities as assigned.Perform related duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF:Basic subjects taught in the District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading.Safe practices in After School activities.Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.Basic record-keeping techniques.ABILITY TO:Learn child guidance principles and practices.Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and the public including members of ethnic communities.Perform routine clerical duties in support of After School activities.Print and write legibly.Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately.Understand and follow oral and written directions.Learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties.Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Learn to apply and explain policies and procedures related to the After School program.Work cooperatively with others.Monitor, observe and report students behavior according to approved policies and procedures.Operate instructional and office equipment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma, G.E.D.
