These positions are available in our operating locations: Stanton and Leigh.

WHO ARE WE?

Schwartz Farms, Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming, today's primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms, Inc. employs over 550 full-time individuals, and owns sows in the upper Midwest, predominantly in Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. YOUR ROLE AS A HIGH SCHOOL ANIMAL CARE SPEACIALIST

In this role you will engage in a variety of hands-on tasks and fulfilling day-to-day experience. You will support either the breeding, farrowing or wean-finish teams. We know that schoolwork, sports, and other activities can be overwhelming. With the help of our managers, you will work together to come up with a schedule that will work for you!

Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include:

  • Ensure the well-being of animals by providing proper care, including access to food, water, and a safe, comfortable environment.
  • Assist with the safe movement and handling of animals.
  • Support the administration of treatments and vaccinations to animals as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to animal care and health.
  • Assist with the processing of animals, following established procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain required PQA certifications (training provided on the job).
  • Adhere to all biosecurity protocols to ensure the safety and health of the animals and the workplace.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork by collaborating with coworkers to achieve shared goals, embrace new technologies, and participate in various projects.
  • Uphold Schwartz Farms' core values of integrity, respect, excellence, and adaptability in all aspects of work.
  • Support SFI's animal welfare policies, focusing on promoting animal well-being, addressing any issues that hinder proper care, and reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse.
  • Be prepared to take on additional tasks as needed to support the team and business operations.
