Job Type Part-timeDescriptionDepartment: Opportunity AcademyReports to: Principal Employment Status: Part-timeJob Summary: The Tutor assists in providing developmentally appropriate activities to enhance the curriculum, by providing academic help and a warm healthy interaction with youth.Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist teacher in planning and providing of developmentally appropriate activities and projects
- Follow OPP' personnel policies.
- Assist in arrangement and upkeep of classroom as well as all equipment and materials.
- Assist in supervising all activities to ensure safety of each youth at all times.
- Help establish good habits and maintain good behavior of students.
- Maintain prompt hours; notify program coordinator in case of illness.
- Work with all other staff members in a cooperative manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attend staff meetings
- Attend in-service training as needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree required
- State of CT teaching certificate preferred
- 3+ years' experience tutoring children and teenagers
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation a must
- Able to develop positive rapport with students
- Excellent communication skills
- Established proficiency in subject matter
Salary Description $30 per hour
