This coaching position is a part-time stipend position. Cypress Christian School involves its student-athletes in interscholastic sports in order to, first and foremost, glorify and honor God with the talents and abilities He has given. We also believe athletics is a great tool to build Christian character, teach discipline, and to learn to face adversity and challenges with a steady eye, a courageous spirit, and reliance upon the ultimate authority, Jesus Christ. Athletics is a form of worship, and our number one goal is building men and women of godly character in our athletic programs. While each sport is unique in how it carries out our philosophy all of our sports follow a biblical model for competing.Working hours for this position are all practices, competitions, games and post-season.SUMMARY OF POSITION, FUNCTION AND DUTIESUnder the direction of the Athletic Director, the Varsity Golf Coach will teach, train and coach students in their assigned sport and in Christian discipleship. The Coach will work to fulfill the mission of honoring the Lord Jesus Christ by providing students an education based upon academic excellence and biblical values. See the section Job Description - Other Details below.ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS PERSONAL BELIEF & BEHAVIOR
  • Must be a born-again Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures, and express agreement with the doctrinal viewpoints and Christian lifestyle requirements of the school.
  • Must be able to serve as a positive Christian role model to others in the CCS school context, living a life that models the school's code of ethics, as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
  • Must be able to accept and support the school's philosophy and statement of faith and doctrine.
  • Must have an understanding of and commitment to CCS's educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the individual to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, sports coached, or their other job duties, thus imparting to students a biblical worldview position.
  • Must faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the statement of faith and doctrine of this school.
  • Must affirm that he/she believes that working and ministering in this Christian school would be pleasing to God, would be consistent with his/her purpose in life, and would be a good stewardship of his/her time, talent, and professional abilities.
  • Must enjoy working with young people.
PROFESSIONAL
  • Three years or more coaching experience in the specific sport and age group applied for preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in an education or athletic related discipline preferred.
  • Current possession or willingness to obtain a CDL bus driver license strongly preferred.
  • TAPPS coach training credentials as may be required by TAPPS and/or CCS.
  • CPR & First Aid training credentials as may be required by TAPPS and/or CCS.

  • Superior interpersonal relationship skills
  • Possess physical stamina required to fulfill the professional obligations of the teaching profession and their specific faculty assignment
  • Proficiency in computer and technology applications necessary for the teaching profession

JOB DESCRIPTION - DETAILS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Scheduling - The coach shall prepare practice and game schedules for the team in coordination with the Athletic Department's Coaches Manual.
  • Teaching - The coach shall be prepared to teach each day of practice and games the sport's fundamentals related to the activity in which they were hired, in a positive and inclusive manner for all athletes.
  • Christian Role Model - The coach demonstrates good personal standards and is characterized as a Christian role model. The coach regularly leads prayer with the team. The coach coaches from a biblical perspective and recognizes and seizes the opportunity to integrate biblical values into practices and instruction. The coach helps students build a biblical framework for interpreting information. The coach is able to present the gospel message to students as appropriate. The coach looks for ways to spiritually minister and care for students and provides spiritual care and guidance to students.
  • Traveling - The coach shall prepare an itinerary for team travel that emphasizes safety, time management, equipment needs, competition and expenses.
  • Equipment - The coach shall distribute, maintain and inventory all uniforms and equipment provided for the team's use for the season. Making sure that the uniforms and the equipment are well cared for and respected by the team.
  • Team Work - The coach will be a part of a team of coaches all working towards common goals for CCS athletics. The coach shall be a team player and enhance the culture of the athletic department and especially the programs mandates, moto, philosophy and goals.
  • Coaching Availability - The coach shall be available to counsel and advise the team members at appropriate times. The coach shall arrive on campus prior to the release of the team from classes and stay with the team until the last athlete has a ride home. Athletes may not roam the campus at any time.
  • Student Athletes - The coach should encourage and promote excellence in academics from student athletes. The coach shall stay connected with the principal and teachers on behalf of their athletes that are struggling academically.
  • Student Athlete Behavior Monitoring - The coach is responsible for removing players immediately from practice or games who are conducting themselves in an unsportsmanlike manner.
  • Disciplinary Actions - The coach will report minor disciplinary actions taken by the coach to the Athletic Director each week by email. Major disciplinary actions taken by the coach concerning athletic conduct shall be reported immediately to the Athletic Director.
  • Certifications - The coach shall be up to date on TAPPS requirements, NFHS coaching units, including CPR and first aid training.
  • Expenditures - The coach shall obtain approval for all expenditures for their team prior to ordering. The coach needs to provide their current budget balance sheet for the Athletic Director, a P.O. form and the reason for the expenditure.
  • End of Season - The coach will turn in the Team Season Summary form and a Team Roster Awards form to the Athletic Director for the athletic awards assembly.
